Hair Loss
Hair loss can be devastating and extremely stressful. Alopecia is the general term given to hair loss from the scalp and the body. Alopecia occurs in many forms, for example Alopecia areata, which is rapid loss of patches of hair, drug related hair loss from medication such as chemotherapy, some hormone treatments, some anti inflammatory drugs and some blood pressure medication.
Temporary hair loss can occur due to sever illness, especially if accompanied by high fever or severe stress. Post partum hair loss, which is general thinning of the hair occurs up to two years after child birth after the last breast feed.
A Trichologist is able to give the time to make a correct diagnosis of the type and cause of hair loss and offer treatment is necessary or refer on to the relevant person.
